Located in Peirce County Washington, Puyallup is only a few miles southeast of Tacoma WA and had a 2010 population of 37,022, according to the US Census Bureau. The town was named for a local Native American tribe and means “the generous people,” and they were very welcoming to the first white settlers in the area, who came in the 1850s. The town was founded and named after these welcoming natives in 1877 and quickly grew. The town has a long history of hosting state fairs, starting with the 1900 founding of the Western Washington Fairgrounds, now known as the Washington State Fair Events Center.

In addition to the yearly Washington State Fair and regular events, Puyallup WA has a lot of amenities for residents and places for visitors to enjoy. The Puyallup Farmers Market offers the local goods and produce available the State Fair, only year round! There are plenty of local parks to explore and enjoy a picnic or a hike, including Pioneer Park in the city center and the more wooded Bradley Lake Park. The Meeker Mansion has a local history museum inside, and there are several antique shops to buy a piece of this history.

We recently won an exclusive contract with a large commercial shipping business in Sumner WA. They had a loading zone with alligator cracking and potholes that was seriously impacting their business. Asphalt pavement that handles heavy loads from semi trucks, like this pavement, needs to be installed to the proper thickness and slope so that it stays smooth, but unfortunately this wasn’t the case with the Sumner WA property.

After working closely with the commercial property manager, we were able to find a repair solution that would solve their asphalt cracking problems. Our experienced asphalt paving contractors got to work right away replacing their pavement. First they cut around the broken pavement using specialized saws, then removed the asphalt all the way down to the base. To prevent further water pooling from drainage issues, they also repaired and re-graded the base layer. Finally, they replaced the asphalt with full-depth, specially mixed asphalt paving.

The commercial customer was very pleased with their new asphalt, saying it looks great! We were also able to get the repairs done in record time so that they didn’t lose function and money by delaying work.
